OUR STORY

Challah for Hunger is an international, non-profit organization that brings people together at more than 70 universities around the world to bake and sell challah to raise money and awareness for social justice causes. Each chapter donates 50% of its profits to Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger and 50% to support local organizations.

Challah for Hunger at Binghamton was established in Feburary 2009 as a sub-group of Hillel. Every  week we bake our loaves on campus at the Sodexo bakery located in Appalachian Dinning Hall at Mountainview College. Engaging with both Jewish and non-Jewish students,  we provide opportunities for hunger advocacy and leadership development.

We make and braid the Challah loaves from scratch every Wednesday; on Thursdays, we then bake, bag and sell the loaves in the Hillel Office from 4PM - 6PM (UUW208). All of our profits go to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger.
